Webocaster version 2.6 is prereleased at Streaming Media 2003, New York. Adding more than 30 new features, the new software leaps even further ahead of its competition and now offers the most comprehensive webcasting platform on the market.

Webocaster Enterprise
This web based authoring tool allows the user to set up and manage Live and On-demand multimedia presentations from anywhere. Media such as video, PowerPoint, Flash animations, Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, pdf, jpg and gif files can be organized into powerful Live and On-demand presentations viewable on any standard PC. Webocaster ships with five password protected user accounts, making it possible to share the application over a vast network. Furthermore, each presentation can be protected with username and password in order to limit unauthorized viewing. Webocaster Enterprise also contains a report engine that logs viewer data such as name, telephone number, IP address, log-in and log-out times, among others.

Webocaster Enterprise 2.6 Introduction
With the release of 2.6, Webocaster Enterprise now supports the use of rolling banners in the presentation window. This banner function is perfect for advertising and news updates, as well as showing live text communications from the audience.

The ability to customize presentation layouts has also been enhanced. Webocaster Enterprise 2.6 ships with a broad selection of layouts and allows for branding and customization without the need for programming. Built-in Photoshop templates offers the producer maximum freedom of design without the hassle of HTML coding. Furthermore, it is now possible to re-size and move all regions within a layout template, making the design options virtually limitless. “Being able to design our own templates makes the Webocaster a very valuable tool”, says Jonas Trotsman of DMK Sweden. “Our graphic designer does not need to learn a new tool. He can simply use his existing knowledge of Photoshop to create exiting new designs.”

Webocaster Enterprise 2.6 was built with the viewer in mind. By running the Client Test function from the audience log-in page, the viewer can determine if all needed software and proper versions are installed on the PC. For instance, if a specific presentation contains Flash animations and Acrobat pdf’s, the Test function will alert the viewer to install Flash and Adobe Acrobat if not already present on the computer. The viewer also has control over the interaction windows of the presentation. Using tabs, the viewer can reveal the desired window, such as chat, email, content index or a Help window, thus not cluttering the screen with several open windows.

Webocaster 2.6 also features an integrated video encoder based on Windows Media Encoder 9.0. This allows any user with a PC and a USB or Firewire camera to produce Live and On-demand presentations without the need for additional software and hardware. The integrated encoder allows the user to choose from any of the pre-configured profiles from Microsoft or profiles customized by the user.
