Viking Media Announces Release of True Turnkey Web
Casting System
Viking Media introduces the WebStreamer turnkey web
streaming system, a feature-packed product that allows users to
broadcast media rich events live over the Internet.
San Jose CA, May 30th, 2002 – Viking Media
(www.vikingmedia.com) , a provider of web casting hardware and
streaming media software tools, has released the WebStreamer series
of turnkey systems. It features multi-format encoding hardware,
presentation software and web hosting services packaged into a true
turnkey solution. WebStreamer allows the user to web cast live or
on-demand multimedia events to a global audience via the Internet.
The product is targeted towards corporate needs including marketing,
training and financial communications.
“What sets the Viking
Media WebStreamer apart from other similar products is that it is
true Turnkey”, says Richard Zembron, System Architect at Eonware.
“There is no additional software, hardware or web hosting
configuration necessary”.
The WebStreamer system consists of
an equipment rack containing the necessary hardware to monitor and
encode the video and audio content. The encoder generates Windows
Media and Real Media, with future support for QuickTime. The system
ships completely pre-configured with all necessary web services. The
user can tailor each live or on-demand presentation to a specific
target audience by using simultaneous multiple video bit rates,
audio, audience interactions, PowerPoint slides and
graphics.
WebStreamer is bundled with the Webocaster
authoring software from Eonware (www.webocaster.com). This authoring
tool allows the user to setup and manage live and on-demand
multimedia presentations from anywhere. It ships with over 60 layout
templates and user-customizable layouts are available. Other
features include audience interaction such as chat, Q & A,
email, voting and polling. It also has built in security and viewer
logon features. The user can create username and password lists to
allow only invited viewers to attend. Various technical and viewer
metrics are monitored and reported real-time and after a live web
cast is completed.
The Webocaster application is server based
and can run on virtually any networked Windows machine with
PowerPoint 2000 installed. Viewers use Internet Explorer or Netscape
browsers on PC, Mac or Linux platforms to view the live or on-demand
presentation.
WebStreamer is also bundled with configuration
and support of a web host and a Content Delivery Network. Viking
Media will set up a license of the Webocaster authoring tool on the
web host. This is where the application runs and the multimedia
presentations are created and stored. Viking Media will also setup
and configure all necessary information with its partner Content
Delivery Network. This network distributes the live or recorded
streaming video to the viewer.
John Demorest, CEO of
Demorest Productions says that distributing information real-time is
greatly enhanced by web casting. “We have used Viking Media’s
solution among our corporate clients with great
results”.
Recent economic down turns have seen many companies
reduce travel budgets. Meeting prospective clients and attending
business events are still very important parts of conducting
business and this is where streaming media can provide an enormously
cost-effective way of communicating. “We make web casting easy” says
Viking Media Production Manager, Örjan Haugen. “By simplifying the
process to successfully web cast, we have made it a viable solutions
for end-users and service providers alike”. “If you know how to
navigate a web browser, you can use our product easily. We tell our
viewers to Stay Home and Attend”
